Dave Clancy

During the early 1980’s Dave started riding at Manly Skate City were again he marvelled at the likes of Grant “biff” Murdoch, Wedge Francis, Adrian Jones, Tony Lake, Sin Eglija, and a host of others. When Ryde Skate park was built, Dave being from Eastwood soon became one of the locals and spent many days and nights skating one of Australia’s first concrete skate parks. In 1987 Dave travelled to America where he skated Del-Mar skate ranch and other Californian hotspots. In 1989 again Dave returned to the states and then on to Canada and Europe.

The nineties saw Dave move on up to Lismore after learning that his first child was on the way. He was not surprised to see that there was very little in the way of skating facilities in the area. In the mid nineties Lismore skate park was built and this was the first park in the area and provided somewhere to skate.

The new millennium brought with it a fresh resurgence in the construction of skate parks and the construction of Ballina skate park. Dave played a minor role in the design process, making a few suggestions all of which were implemented. Dave then designed and built his home in Lennox Head and his second child was born, Dave is now a frequent visitor to Ballina Skate Park and at age 45 is still as consumed by the sport as he was when he first started riding back in the seventies.
